BFMAF LUX Project Boot Camp 2019

Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival is pleased to announce the return of our LUX Project Bootcamp this September.

BFMAF 2019 will once again become a platform and case study for a three-day workshop led by Benjamin Cook, Director of LUX, for artists seeking to develop their new moving image project.

Working within an informal and mutually supportive small group environment, participants will bring a short project proposal to be workshopped over the three days.

The workshop will explore how to articulate new ideas, written and verbal presentation skills, placing projects and building partnerships, fundraising, exhibition and distribution strategies. Using their own projects as case studies, participants will discuss and develop skills that can be applied within both art and film contexts, including preparing funding, residency and production award applications as well as pitching at development markets, film festivals and other competitive contexts.

In the final part of the workshop, Participants will then have an opportunity to present their projects to a panel of professionals visiting the festival followed by a chance to spend time reflecting on their projects in the context of one of the UK’s leading artists’ moving image festivals.

There are 8 places available on this workshop.

The workshop will begin on Wednesday 18th September and end on Friday 20th September and the festival continues until Sunday 22nd September.

The cost of the workshop is £175 which includes:

  • Three day workshop led by Benjamin Cook, Director of LUX.
  • 5 nights’ accommodation (Wednesday 18 – Monday 23 September) in shared dormitory accommodation at YHA Berwick** (4 bed rooms)
  • Access to the complete programme of screenings and events of Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival 2019.

Feedback from last year’s Bootcamp attendees:

‘It was such a great experience presenting the project to you and the group in such a supportive environment and in the context of the festival. It's given me lots to think about in a practical sense and also creatively. Can't thank you enough!’

‘Thanks very much for your time, insight and energy during the bootcamp. I really enjoyed it and gained a lot from the experience. I feel raring to go on getting stuck into developing my new film, and look forward to sharing the progress and results with you and the other Bootcamp attendees.’
