Introducing our new Associate Programmer

BFMAF would like to wish a warm welcome to Ana David who will be joining our team as Associate Programmer.

Ana David is a film programmer based between Lisbon and Berlin. She is currently a member of the shorts selection committee and industry manager at IndieLisboa and a member of the advisory board of the Berlinale Panorama.

Ana has a proven track record of programming and festival work in Europe. In 2018 she programmed at the BFI London Film Festival, with a special focus on documentary. In the past she has held positions at Portugal Film - Portuguese Film Agency,Lisbon Docs - International Financing and Co-production Forum, Festival Scope, and Queer Lisboa (2010-2015), the latter as co-director and programmer.

In 2019 Ana was profiled in Screen International’s Future Leaders initiative for European programmers and curators.

On her appointment as Associate Programmer Ana said:

"Conceived as a platform for a wide scope of innovative artistic practices in and around film, the Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival strikes me as a gathering of like-minded film and moving image passionate practitioners. It’s with deep joy, admiration, and a strong sense of curiosity that I look forward to working with the team of such a gem of a festival, one that operates on a deeply free and curated approach to programming and a commitment to the past, present and the future of cinema."

Ana will join Festival Director Peter Taylor, Programmer Herb Shellenberger and Programming Fellows Myriam Mouflih and Christina Demetriou in the curation of the 2020 programme.
