FEDS Traineeship at BFMAF

The festival is offering a ten month long paid traineeship supported by the independent Cinema Office to work with the BFMAF team here in Berwick.

Are you passionate about film and want to work in the industry, but are struggling to find your way in? FEDS is a ground-breaking scheme designed to give newcomers to the film industry the ultimate head-start.

Call out for new Board Members

We are looking for two additional board members with a passion and enthusiasm for cinema and the visual arts. As a board member of BFMAF, you will play a key role in the governance and strategic direction of the Festival.

We welcome all applicants but are particularly looking to appoint members with experience in any of the following areas:

  • Filmmakers and artists with a moving image based practice
  • Festivals, Film Production and Distribution
  • Finance, legal and HR
  • Community development and collaborative ways of working
  • Audience development and analysis
  • Cultural management: fundraising, development and organisational change
  • Advocacy for equality, access and representational shifts

The Festival particularly welcomes applications from women, people under the age of 40, people of colour, individuals from ethnic minority or low-income backgrounds, disabled people, those who identify as LGBTQ+, and who are currently underrepresented in senior management roles in the UK’s cinema and visual arts sectors.

Board Member posts are voluntary and unpaid, but all reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. Board members are expected to attend 4 board meetings per year (which usually take place quarterly at 4.30pm on Friday afternoons) and participate in developmental planning days as required. Board members will be asked to actively contribute actively to the strengthening of BFMAF's strategic direction, fundraising and ongoing development alongside a commitment to direct support during the Festival itself and year round programme.

Berwick-upon-Tweed is directly accessible by public transport from throughout the North East, Borders, Edinburgh, Glasgow and North Yorkshire.
